Day 9...

We were hoping to get a little better news this morning during our first visit. From yesterday's progress, we were hoping they were going to start bringing him out of sedation this morning. He spiked a fever again last night. He is currently around 102 degrees for him temp. They have him on a 9 degree Celsius cold blanket with a fan and cool wash cloths on his face and neck. They won't be reducing his sedation at this point.

They will do another CT Scan on Monday. Once patients reach about a week of treatment, they start to be concerned about absesses around the pancreas so they will check for that tomorrow. His kidney function is doing good so they should be able to use the IV dye to get a good clear picture of what is going on. So with this concern, they will re-evaluate his antibiotics to see if they need to switch him to a different one. Because he gets agitated when they move him, they will more than likely use the paralytic drug just for the CT Scan tomorrow. He hasn't been following their directions when they wake him up to move him anymore. But they are not concerned about any neurological issues because he is still moving good on his own.

They did have to increase his oxygen level on the ventilator overnight because he was having some problems breathing.

So, I still don't believe we are going backwards any but he hasn't seemed to have progressed much more overnight. I'm still confident that today will be another great day for him so I look for more progress throughout the day.
