End of another good day...

Rob had a pretty decent day today. Ending with belly pressure at 16 and blood sugar levels in the normal range. The nurses said that the CVN (central venous nutrition) that he was on originally that fed him through his IV can cause unruly sugar levels. So hopefully now that he is off of that, he'll maintain better levels with the "fiber shake" that he gets through his tube feedings now. He just started on his 3rd bottle of that so apparently he's taking to that quite well. I'm sure if he had anything to say about it, he'd rather have another choice for supper.

His temp still seems to be his main battle right now. It's up to 102.5 tonight and they are going to let him spike and fight it on his own instead of using the cooling blanket and Tylenol to help him fight it. They sent for more cultures to see if anything might show up on those. Still nothing showing from previous cultures, which is good. So hopefully he spikes his temp overnight and starts to come back down to a more comfortable level for him. They have him setting up a little higher once in a while to change the position of his chest. That will help him with any lung function that might be deminished. He sounds a little "gunky" in there according to the nurse but hopefully he'll avoid pnemonia.

He's been a little more awake today. I saw his eyes several times but it's still like he's looking through me. Although when I touch him or talk to him, he turns towards me. So I know he's more alert now than he had been. So he's still fighting, little by little, to get better.
